NumLock feature request 16 Years, 7 Months ago
In another terminal emulator I have been trying I am able to reprogram the numlock key with the numlock light on and it will stay on all the time using the key as I programed it. This allows me to minimize the emulator and work on a spreadsheet with numlock already on. Very handy when switching back and forth a lot between screens. Using your emulator gives a only 50 percent change of the numlock being on. {number pads should always be numbers. The other keys (insert,home,etc)have their own anyway. A pet peeve of mine:) }

I think I understand what you are saying, but let me restate it so you can make sure I am on the same page...

In Absolute, you can remap the numlock key to send some string of text, but the numlock state is toggled each time, resulting in the numlock either being on or off. When you switch to another application, you're never sure (unless you look at the light) which state it is in.

In another terminal you've tried, after remapping the numlock key, the toggled state of the numlock light is not affected when you hit the numlock key.

Correct?

I'll have to look and see if there is a way to manage this in the code.

What exactly are you trying to remap the numlock key for anyway? Couldn't you just pick a different key?

Your are correct in understanding my situation. I remap the Numlock key because for 20 years we have used wyse terminls that have the function keys F1-4 along the top of the keypad. The F1 key is above the 7 key like the numlock key. We have the F1 key mapped as a escape key. Entering numberical records (1000's a day) using Informix database software requires the Esc key for every record. The keys F2,3,4 are all remapped for repetive tasks. My data entry personnel would shoot me if I changed position of the function keys.

What is the other software package you use that allows you to do this?

Does the numlock light blink when you hit the key? As if the light went off and then was switched back on programmatically?

I can almost guess what they're doing. You can't prevent the numlock key from disabling the numlock mode and turning off the light, but you can turn it back on again by simulating a keystroke (hence the blinking light).

Let me work on this and I'll get back to you.

Just tried 6.01 RC10 and the numLock stays on.
This is great. When will this version be ready for purchase?

It'll be in 6.01, which is only partially complete. Workspaces and sftp are still in progress. If you haven't joined the beta list, please join to keep up-to-date with the latest beta announcements.
