Upgrade Issue 14 Years, 1 Month ago
I upgraded to v 5.01 and now my saved profiles have lost their passwords. Is there a way to reverse this? In other words, I have aprox 75 saved configuration files that used to have passwords stored and now the passwords are lost. I would rather not have to enter each password again if possible.

Thanks

I'm taking a look at this. If you want, you can return to 4.61 until I get this worked out...

Vincent,

I've got this working for you. Give it a shot:

Thanks Brian!

That seems to have fixed it. I installed the 5.05 version and opened 4-5 server files and they had the saved passwords like they should.

I have used absolute telnet for several years. This is the first time that I have even emailed support I think. It is great and I will keep using it. It's great that you keep developing it all the time.

I use it 6-7 days a week up to 18 hours a day. A buddy of mine told me about another ssh client the other day that did tabs like firefox. I thought to myself "man that's a great idea".... about a week later you came out with the tabs haha... So I get to use the tabs AND keep using absolute telnet too... Can't beat that with a stick ;-)

Thanks again,
Vincent

Vincent,

Thanks for the feedback and the bug report. It's good response from customers like you that keep AbsoluteTelnet on the cutting edge! It was by customer request that the tabs came to the top of my 'todo' list in the first place.

BTW, what other terminal app does your friend use that does tabs?

This is what he is using and was telling me about: http://www.vandyke.com/products/securecrt/

I went back in my IM history to be sure that was it. Figured I would just paste our chat about it here if you are interested in what he had to say.

HIM (2:57:08 AM): what windows ssh client do you use?
ME (2:57:24 AM): absolute telnet
HIM (2:57:30 AM): ah ok
HIM (2:57:38 AM): i recently started using securecrt
HIM (2:57:48 AM): it has tabs like firefox
HIM (2:57:51 AM): pretty good
ME (2:58:12 AM): man that sounds really good.. the tabs. is it good one other than the tabs?
HIM (2:58:50 AM): has some quirks, maybe i have to configure it
HIM (2:58:58 AM): but page down and end dont do things in bash
HIM (2:59:06 AM): but its still faster for me to use because of the tabs
HIM (2:59:14 AM): and you can open say 5 connections at once
ME (2:59:21 AM): just the tabs thing makes me want to try it. sometimes i have 5-10 ssh'es going at the same time
HIM (2:59:23 AM): select multiple servers and open them at the same time
HIM (2:59:25 AM): yeah, same

I am going to turn him onto absolute telnet with the tabs. No quirks to bother with haha.

Thanks again for the help!

Vincent
