Startup delay 11 Years, 8 Months ago
Just installed v. 9.49. It picked up the config from v. 9.18 flawlessly. Very impressed. One problem: When I start the program (simple telnet connection over dialup), there is a delay of about 14 seconds before the initial "Connecting to ..." and "attempting ..." messages appear. Then everything goes smoothly from there. Any ideas? -- Tony

I have noticed the same thing. In vers 9.18, when I started a telnet session to an IP address on the LAN or on my WAN, I received the Connecting message almost immediately and then a quick Attempting and success. Since the upgrade, there is a 20 second delay with just a cursor and then the expected messages pop up as before. It is almost like it is just waiting for something.

Upgraded from 9.46 to 9.49 and have the problem. As others have stated when starting a telnet session to an IP address using XP, and 9.46 I received the Connecting message at once and then a quick success. Now using 9.49 I also get a 20 second delay with just a cursor and then the expected login appears as before. Please fix this issue. If cannot can I go back to older version that works better.? My second question is there a way to have the cursor blink faster?

Same problem here!

First, my installed 9.18 did not start after the latest Windows 7 updates. Then i've bought the upgrade to 9.49, but it's impossible to use Telnet due to this delay

Please fix this immediately, the program is actually worthless for that many Telnet connections i need to use daily!

I found the bug and here's the update! It was definitely a telnet issue, similar to an unusual SSH connection delay (another thread) but unrelated.

www.celestialsoftware.net/telnet/AbsoluteTelnet9.49a.exe

The update is 9.49a. The installer will proclaim itself as 9.49a, though once installed, the program will still claim to be 9.49 (same as you have, though the bug will be gone)

Yep, the problem is solved.

Thanks for the quick response.

Just wondering -- how big a problem were the memory leaks? (That possibility was the reason I upgraded. This machine runs Vista, and I need all the help I can get.)
