Silent Install 13 Years, 8 Months ago
Hi,

We are currently evaluating Absolute Telnet as a replacement for our aging telnet app (as it is not Win7 compatible), and would like to know if there is a 'silent install' option, so that we can sent out the applicaiton via Patchlink.

Thanks

Sorry it took me a while to get to this. I was on vacation and this slipped past.

There is an option for silent install.

There are a couple of forms of the command that you can use....

This form will show a progress dialog and *may* ask the user to reboot if a reboot is necessary to replace a file.
AbsoluteTelnet.exe /sp /silent

This form will not show anything or ask anything, but may automatically reboot if a reboot is necessary to replace a file.
AbsoluteTelnet.exe /sp /verysilent

This form will not show or ask anything and will not reboot ever.
AbsoluteTelnet.exe /sp /verysilent /norestart

Re:Silent Install 10 Years, 6 Months ago
Hello -

Is there anyway to get the silent install to include a license key so the end user does not need to enter nor see the license key. My company uses Bigfix and SMS to distribute software to our machines national wide.

Additionally, is there a ini or xml file I can use to setup predefine connection in absolute, so the end user just has a selection of the connection. Similary to Eg. Attachmate KEA! or X-Extreme.

OT: Additionally we had purchase 15 license key for evaluation, wonder if I use the lic key provided for test, as long as I uninstall it on my test machine will go back to the pool of available lic is that correct?

Thanks for any input

Disregard the question about connections, I was able create the tnt files for the connections.

Still need to know if the license can be activated using a silent install.

On your test machine, after you installed the software and your license code, Absolute would have created a file called AbsoluteTelnet.trg, probably in your Windows folder. Include that file in your distribution and drop it into the AbsoluteTelnet install directory after the silent install is complete.

Hope this helps!
