1. automatic; this is necessary since I resize AT regularly.

2. I've been measuring by seeing how long 10 drags/repaints take, so it includes human reaction time, drag time, and repaint time. As a control, framemaker 9 takes about 1.2 seconds. AT is ordinarily just slow enough to be annoying (1.4 to 1.5 seconds), and as I have been fiddling with sizes and fonts, it's gotten to about 2.0 seconds. I don't think I see a correlation between number of tabs. I do seem to see some correlation with fonts. An oddity; when I drag with Lucida Console size 10, it changes the font name on the icon bar to Symbols Nerd Font (doesn't affect the display). That doesn't happen with font size 11.

3. On the rare occasions it get stuck, it sits there long enough for me to give up - at least 20 seconds; possibly a minute.  It does recover. It's possible this stuck situation is related to another issue I have either with win11 in general or this particular laptop, I get into performance holes from time to time, and one online app is just slow. I haven't got stuck over the last week, but I've been doing other work and haven't been using the drag pattern that intensely.

4. keyboard shortcut seems slightly faster than dragging, but I can't get a measurement other than the 1.5-2.0 second range. Framemaker takes 0.6 seconds per keyboard shortcut move.  

5.  Tricky to video over two monitors and the mouse... with my phone, I got a rather poor video of comparative drag (not bad enough to really complain about), the problem has gotten slightly worse over the course of the morning and memory has gotten more full. I'll try to get something better. 

Anytime an application has to jump screens that have different DPIs, some scaling to find the 'right' window size on the new monitor in the new DPI is normal.  1 or 2 seconds at most.  When you say 'quite a bit of time, long enough that you'd kill it', how long are we talking here?   I tried with 20+ tabs open and it takes maybe 5 seconds on my laptop.  Your mileage may vary....

So some questions...

1. How do you have the windows setup to resize?  On options->Properties->Appearance, do you used 'scale font, keep rows and columns fixed', or do you use 'automatically change rows and columns'?  THat can affect the resize behavior

2. If you have only one tab open, does it do the same thing?  How long does it take to move the window between monitors?

3. When you say 'stuck halfway', do you mean permanently hung?  Or temporarily frozen, then re-activated?

4. Can you try shift-windowskey-leftarrow and shift-windowskey-rightarrow to move the app between monitors?  Is that faster or same as dragging???

5. Can you record a screen video so I can see what's happening?

I do miss the win7, she's feeling poorly but still hoping she can be saved.

That's part of a new 'paste hygiene' feature to help prevent accidental execution of commands with embedded newlines.

And NO, there's not an opt-out in 14.04.
