This topic was inspired by the old thread [Re: Where are settings stored?]( https://www.celestialsoftware.net/community/absolutetelnetgeneral/#post-473) which concludes by saying they are saved in the following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Celestial Software\\AbsoluteTelnet

I exported that key and it looks like the important pieces to backup are:

  1. "usebooleancolor"="false"
  2. "appoptions14"=hex:00,10,26,59,cd,41,b4,27,9a,0d,80,f3,66,e2,01,a5,19
  3. "appoptions15"=hex:26,17,b9,2c
  4. "FTPDIR"="config"
  5. "AVisual"="YES"
  6. "STARTUP"="three"
  7. "AUTHFORWARD"="yes"
  8. "COD"="no"
  9. "SUTF8"="yes"

I don't need to know what these control though I can guess about some, what I'm looking for are those items in the above list that could cause something to break if they were imported into a new instance of the same version of AT that they were exported from?

Todd, all of the options can be carried into a new instance as-is....  Nothing should 'break', but some may not make sense to transfer.  For example, file or folder paths on one PC may not exist on the other and so forth....

Most of those options are from the 'Global' or 'Transfer' dialog settings, and can be easily set in the app without exporting/importing registry.

Don't forget though that all of the other settings, the ones that are connection specific are in your .TNT files, generally one file per connection target or host.

So if you want to 'migrate' to another machine, make sure you take those with you
