| Re: AT 3.13 : Config files PATH handling | 0 Relevance | 22 years ago | bpence | Configuration issues | |
| I've got a fix for that. Version 3.15 will include the fix, but it can be retro-fitted to 3.13 with a registry tweak. you'll need to open regedit and navigate to: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\\AbsoluteTelnetConnection\\shell\\open\\command Modify the entry by putting double-quotes around the path name and the %1 argument like this: "c:\\program files\\absolutetelnet\\PROGRAM\\AbsoluteTelnet.exe" "%1" Of course, your path my be different, depending on where you installed. Let me know if this helps! Brian | |||||

| ... to get AT to run completely off of an ini file, rather than tying itself into the registry? I'm really wanting to develop a basic set of communication tools that are all completely portable and can be used from removable media on any computer I happen to be at. I do realize that some of the shell functionality would be sacrificed, which wouldn't be so important for these purposes anyway. I'm picturing maybe something like an dual-purpose option to save all pertinent settings to an ini file, then have AT first look for the ini file in its directory upon st ... | |||||

| MUSUL, I've added URL syntax decoding for urls similar to the telnet URL syntax. Prefixes that are now recognized include "ssh1://" and "ssh2://" for ssh1 and ssh2 in addition to "ssh://" which is an alias for the ssh2 form. The full URL syntax including username, password, hostname, and port number is supported, giving you the ability to implement auto-login through SSH from a web link (assuming your registry changes have been made). Get it here: [url= /p> Enjoy!!! | |||||

| Hey dudes, The next version of the software will recognize the telnet URLs without the slashes. It's against my better judgement, but it doesn't seem to break anything. Additionally, I've added code to parse ssh:// type urls (including usernames and passwords for auto-login). However, I'll not go so far as to add the registry settings to make IE recognize them until I can do a little more research. | |||||

| ... Telnet appears to transmit the file at blazing speed. I mean, it takes about 2 seconds for the progress indicator to fill up, when it should take more like 20 seconds for the file I'm sending. But then, once the progress indicator fills up, Absolute Telnet continues to send and starts filling the progress indicator a second time. Eventually the transfer aborts with errors, and on the receiving computer there is only a portion of the file I tried to send. I'm guessing that the ZModem implementation in Absolute Telnet isn't waiting for the proper acknowledgem ... | |||||

| Drew, I've got some additional registry switches that are ready for you to try. If you require additional ones, please let me know. The following strings can be entered in a similar way to the 'reghack1' already mentioned. However, they can be entered into either the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE or HKEY_CURRENT_USER branches of the registry to affect either the entire machine or specific user's rights. String values can be either 'yes', 'YES', 'true', or 'TRUE'. The following registry switches have been added in AbsoluteTelnet 2.12 RC2 disable_save disabl ... | |||||

| create a new string value under: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Celestial Software\\AbsoluteTelnet called 'reghack1' and set the value to yes This disables a number of menu options, but is of course only limited by a user's ability and/or determination to edit the registry (which you probably have locked down already). | |||||

| There is an undocumented features that allows you to do this, but I can't remember what it is off the top of my head and I can't find it in the uhhh... documentation! 😉 It is not in the user interface, but rather a registry setting that you must make. It turns off various menu options in addition to toolbar buttons. The list of disabled features may not contain entirely everything you want to disable, but I'm open to suggestions for other things. If it doesn't fit in with the current registry hacks, I can create another that is more customized to wh ... | |||||
