TOPIC: Bad scrolling behaviour with MikroTik routers
#8953
Bad scrolling behaviour with MikroTik routers 2 Years, 10 Months ago
I have an issue using AT with a couple of MikroTik routers. Using either SSH-2 or Telnet log-on is all OK. The Help command is '?'; it is just '?' rather than ? enter. Output from the command is only available in the visible window space below the command line, which would normally be nil because the command line generally positions to the bottom of the window. The window does not scroll to include more. The way to see some output is to prepare the screen; drag the window down to one row high, position it at the bottom of the screen and then drag the top of the window up to the top of the screen, thereby making space for the output. But the output will not scroll beyond the bottom of the window and will not page. So anything in the output beyond the visible is lost. If you are lucky you might be able to include it all by reducing the screen font size.

I do suspect some anomaly from MikroTik; I am compiling a list of issues to refer to them. But I am prompted to mention it here because PUTTY works fine as does the Microsoft Telnet client at least in this respect.

Does anyone have experience of this?

Which version of Absolute are you using?

Would you be willing to try some additional steps to help me narrow this down? This would include creating a session log and sending it to me so I can debug.

Thanks Brian. Happy to assist.

I am using 11.24

Log file attached. I logged in, entered '?' at the root. Then I changed to 'interface', then back to root. Then I adjusted the view and entered '?' again.

The issue as reported was apparent. The log file does show two complete sets of help page content.

Let me know if you need anything further.

Kind regards

Edit: Logfile removed for privacy

I think I've narrowed the problem down to a poorly interpreted escape sequence.

Can you try downloading this and trying again?

Many thanks Brian.

Yes, with 11.25 it is working exactly as I would expect it to.
